Follow the instructions below to connect Yellowfin to an Oracle = database.
Yellowfin does not ship with the driver required for this connection due= to licensing/paywall reasons. You will need to manually upload the driver = through the Plugin Manager.
Click on the Create button and choose the data source option.<= /span>
Select the database option.
When the New Connection popup appears, provide a name and desc= ription for your Oracle database.
Choose Oracle from the list of available data=
base options. New configuration fields will appear on doing so.
<=
br>
Select the Include Schema in SQL checkbox to include the schema name when addressing database tables i=
n SQL queries.
Specify how you want to connect by choosing one of the followi= ng connection methods:
SID: Select this option if you want to connec= t with the Oracle SID, which is a unique name that identif= ies your Oracle instance/database.
Service: Select this option to co= nnect using the Oracle service name (TNS alias) and remotely connect to you= r Oracle instance.
TNSNAMES: This option should be s=
elected if you want to connect by using the tnsnam=
es.ora file.
If connecting w=
ith a SID or service name, continue with the following steps, otherwise ski=
p to step 10 if you have chosen to connect using the tnsnames.ora file.
Next, enter the name or IP address of the server hosting the d= atabase.
The default port number for Oracle will automatically appear. =
Provide the name of the database containing the data that you = require.
Enter the value of the selected connection method = (selected in step 6). E.g. if SID was chosen, provide the source ID number,= or if TNSNAMES was selected, then provide the contents of your tnsnames.or= a file.
Select the Use Custom Fetch Size checkbox if =
you want a select number of data rows to be retrieved from the database aft=
er a query is executed. Specify the number of rows.
Yellowfin will automatically select the correct JDBC driver to= talk to your Oracle database.
Enter the username and password of your database account.
Once you have completed your connection information, you will have s= everal options:
Advanced Connection Editor: This= will take you to the Data Source page in the Admin Console and allow you t= o edit all the advanced options available for your database.
Test Connection: This will test the connection parameters you provid=
ed to ensure it can connect to your database. If the connection was success=
ful, a message will appear.
Create View: This will save your connection and get you started on c= reating a view based on it.
Save & Close: This will allow you to save your connection and cl= ose the New Connection popup, returning you to the page you were on previou= sly.
Cancel: This closes the New Connection popup without saving your con= nection, returning you to the page you were on previously.
We recommend testing your connection, and then saving it by clicking= on the Save & Close button.
