With the introduction of Automated Insights, performing data analysis has become extremely easy. This feature allows you to perform automated insight discovery with the help of advanced algorithms, saving you from manually identifying relevant insights and performing time-consuming data exploration. Yellowfin’s narrative engine automatically interprets your findings for you, along with selecting an appropriate visualization.

Two Features

Automated Insights Functionalities

Yellowfin offers two means of carrying out this functionality:

• Assisted Discovery: This refers to the smart analysis functionality added  Ideal for report or content writers, Assisted Discovery is used to let Yellowfin auto-generate charts and insights. This is performed through the Smart Analysis button, once required data is added to the report builder. Insights are generated once relevant data is dragged into the report and the Smart Analysis button used. This feature is ideal for report builders or content writers.
• Instant Insights: This functionality is ideal for the business users who require their data to be analysed without depending on data analysts. Charts now offer an Auto Analyse option that lets data be explained or compared.

Before learning how to use these features,

• An Insights Wizard then asks what type of results the users wants to and uses that information to generate charts and their explanations, instead of the user manually configuring chart settings.
• Instant Insights: The Instant Insights feature allows business users to rapidly uncover insights in their data with minimal effort. Users can choose to get a deeper explanation of the data they are seeing, or compare data they are seeing on a chart to understand differences. Yellowfin will automatically perform data analysis to determine the ‘why’ – why has my data changed or why are these two things different. Yellowfin’s narrative engine automatically interprets your findings for you, along with selecting an appropriate visualization. Once generated, the analysis can be saved and also shared with others.

Enabling Automated Insights

Before you can access these features, the system administrator will need to configure the Insights settings through the View builder. After that, users who have the role permissions to carry out the tasks will be able to access the functionalities.
