Yellowfin sends a variety of emails based on different events that occur in the system. The Email Template allows an administrator to customise the look and feel of these emails.


### Email Events

There are a range of events that make use of the Email Template. These include:

- New User
- Change Password
- Broadcast
- Subscription
- Email Content
- Distribution of:
  - Dashboard Tab
  - Report
  - Storyboard

## Formatting the Email Template

The template that controls how emails sent from the system are formatted, can be configured using the Email Templates setting - this is available to System Administrators. If you are using the Modern Menu system, you can access Email Template formatting by clicking on the Settings menu drop down (Gear icon) and selecting Email Templates:

Alternatively, click on the left hand-side menu and select Administration, Admin Console and Email Templates.

Various aspects of the email template can be configured using the options on the left hand side. As the items are changed, a preview email is shown on the right.

| **Option** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| Language | Some elements of the template are stored against the different languages configured in your system. Select the language from the drop down. |
| Header Image | Click on the Image Manager link to open a popup to select an image for the email header. The header image should match the width of the email, by default 600px. To remove an existing image, click the x next to the image. |
| Page Background | Use the colour picker to select a color for the Page Background or enter the hex code for the colour. |
| Body Background | Use the colour picker to select a color for the Body Background or enter the hex code for the colour. |
| Template Width | Select the width that the email should be in pixels, the default is 600px. |
| Custom Salutation | This is an optional setting. You can add some text to appear before the recipient's name, such as “Dear”. |
| Salutation Font | Configure the font, font size, color and other font settings for the Salutation line in the email. |
| Line Style | A line can be configured to appear between the salutation and the email body. You can configure the line colour and thickness. |
| Subject Font | Configure the font, font size, color and other font settings for the Subject line in the email. |
| Body Font | Configure the font, font size, color and other font settings for the main body text in the email. |
| Footer Font | Configure the font, font size, color and other font settings for the Footer lines in the email. |
| Footer Top Background | Configure a colour for a line that appears between the email body and the footer. |
| Footer Background | Configure a colour for the background of the footer section. |
| Custom Footer Text | Add any custom text to the footer by typing it in this box. |
| Show Footer | Unchecking this box will prevent the standard footer from being added to the email, this includes the default url for updating the users notification settings. |
